What is this 'visualization'?
Is that some kinda daydreaming? Like some post-exam tour plans, which is coming in front of your eyes while you are 'trying' to engross yourself into studies? I can understand the pain for sure. You have to finish a stupid paper coz your exam is not only knocking on your doors (exam is never that gentle)...but it is actually slamming the doors and threatening you like some roadside hoodlum...while your mind is taking you to the most coveted holiday destination of yours. This is not that kind of visualization or daydreaming (I still don't get it why is it called 'daydreaming' while clearly I can dream with my eyes open at nights as well!).
Visualization, in modern perspective, is the practice of visualizing yourself in the position where you want to be. It can be anything. If you are working hard for a scholarship, in this case, your visualization should be imagining yourself standing on the stage holding onto that scholarship certificate. In case, right now, if your sole motto of life is to impress a girl, you can visualize the ways how you can be like James Bond and save her for mobs or accidents and then how nicely and gratefully she will come to you and...etc etc...(I'm sorry dude, but it doesn't work in that way...either you gotta hire the 'mobs' or have to hire some people who can organize a fake accident for you...your choice).
This is true that if you keep on visualizing your goals and future, you can actually shape it in that way. All you need is the determination and imagination power. However, your goals gotta be SMART; Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Related & Timely. Whatever you imagine, its gotta be realistic. :-)
It has been a recommended practice for great athletes, sportspeople, music makers, public speakers....VISUALIZE IT! Before a game, it always helps a player to visualize himself giving his best in that game. Jim Carrey, in his initial struggling days, used to practice visualizing the future 'JIM CARREY' in a wonderful way...he wrote a check having his name on it, amounting a million dollars and always carried it in his wallet. Whenever he could, he would take out the check and read it to himself as 'to Mr Carrey, signing amount of your movie'. Now we know where Jim stands.
Ideas like that may seem a bit 'over the top', but it has surely helped those who tried it. Don't you think you might give it a try too? Nothing much you have to do. All you need is to imagine yourself achieving your next goal...feel how it will be when you have achieve what you wanted the most! Imagine people greeting and congratulating you on your success! Make your feelings as real as possible. Along with that, do not forget to keep working your way towards it. I mean, no one can achieve anything by mere 'imagination', right? :-) :-)
You gotta put your efforts in that as well. Go on, try it and you will definitely see the results! :-) :-)
All the Best! :-)
